Triteca app for iPhone and iPad
TRITECA – London’s Digital District – provides a network of spaces that are different in application but united in spirit. Their application can be a designed space, a piece of legislation, a place of opportunity, a coordinated set of activities or a piece of conceptual art. The united spirit is the combined DNA of the area. The network of spaces unites previously neglected areas at the boundary of both boroughs. Situated between the established financial centre, the emerging tech city and a growing residential population, the district represents transitory, experimental and fast changing environments.
Old Street Roundabout, the gateway to Shoreditch and Finsbury Square establish the cornerstones of a newly defined district – TRITECA.
TRITECA is an urban, genetic and technological experiment that links tech with business, graffiti with laptops, guerrilla business with street festivals, trees and pixels, the underground with the pavement and people with opportunity.
OLD STREET ROUNDABOUT
The Old Street Roundabout is the centrepiece and physical representation of the emerging Tech City.
At the heart of the roundabout, the iconic globe will put Londons Tech City on the map, while providing both advertising and display space. This relatively straight-forward intervention will kickstart the transformation of a traffic island into the epicentre of an emerging city district.
SHOREDITCH GATEWAY
The western gateway to Shoreditch celebrates all that makes Shoreditch special - people, art, fashion and freedom of expression.
The previously car-dominated space is reconfigured to create a substantial pedestrian plaza and facilitate the creation of an urban scene unique to Shoreditch.
FINSBURY SQUARE
Finsbury Square represents the dynamic meeting of the finance and technology industries. Finsbury Square will be a dynamic plaza and urban garden for its diverse surrounding community. The proposal fundamentally transforms the square to have 24-hour appeal, serving the full range of its patronage.
1 - The space of the car park is utilised to house a community-oriented centre, which finds its manifestation through a two-story pavilion at the heart of the park and linking its multiple levels.
2 - A meaningful public square is created, capable of hosting significant events while still providing an appealing every day, active space.
3 - Triteca Gardens provides valuable green space in the heart of the city. Served by the park pavilions cafe, this sunny spot will be ever popular during lunch time and weekends alike.
4 - Lightwells form architectural accents in the landscape and hint at the space below.
